At first I headed out east of battery rocks and found that there was a big swell running and it was breaking, so I spent quite a bit of time trying to avoid some nasty white water, although it did roll me around a few times, the rides coming back into the beach were great lots of big drops down the waves, and some nice cut backs, but pretty much the waves were winning and I was getting slammed to much, so I took to sailing on the otherside of the rocks where the water was a lot flatter, mostly chop with some waist high waves closer in, much more friendly. The wind picked up too, which makes a change as it normally drops off for me. Had some really good runs, a few nice gybes and lots of fun flicking the board around on the waves. The Naish board really does like being on a wave and it turns so easliy and quickly, although at 100 litres it is really too big for 5m weather. I did get one surprise, I caught a wave quite close in and I was turning on it, I went to drop back down the face and suddenly realised there was no water at the bottom of it, so I very quickly back winded the sail, stopped dead and hopped off, phew almost had to buy a new fin...
